Frenectomy is excision of the frenula. Frenula consist of a mucosal fold in the labial, buccal and occasionally the lingual surface of the alveolar ridge. Their high attachment may cause diastima, poor retention of denture, gingival recession & inflammation and tongue tied in ligual frenum etc.
